CLAT

CLAT UG stands for the Common Law Admission Test for Undergraduate programs, a national entrance examination in India for admission to 5-year integrated law degrees at National Law Universities (NLUs) and other participating institutions. Organized by the Consortium of NLUs, the exam tests comprehension, reasoning, and aptitude across five subjects: English Language, Current Affairs/General Knowledge, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, and Quantitative Techniques.

 

What is CLAT UG?

Purpose: To provide a national-level entrance test for admission to undergraduate law programs, such as BA LLB, BBA LLB, and BCom LLB.

Conducting Body: The Consortium of National Law Universities.

Eligibility: Students who have completed their 12th grade or are in the final year of 10+2 can apply.

Exam Structure and Syllabus

Format: A 2-hour, pen-and-paper-based multiple-choice test.

 

Subjects:

English Language: Focuses on reading comprehension.

Current Affairs, including General Knowledge: Tests awareness of global and Indian events from various non-fiction sources.

Legal Reasoning: Assesses comprehension of legal principles, public policy, and moral philosophy.

Logical Reasoning: Evaluates the ability to analyze arguments and reasoning patterns.

Quantitative Techniques: Tests mathematical skills using numerical data in textual form.

Scoring: There is negative marking for each incorrect answer.
